About

Ashley Jennings attended Columbia University in New York where she studied psychology and spent 3 years working on a graduate degree in psychology in L.A. and Seattle, only to leave grad school to marry the coolest dude she had ever met (as her parents sat in a perpetual state of “eek!”).  In 2007 Ashley moved to Reno, NV to be with Eric and his kids–Ben and Lauren, and hasn’t looked back since! She has been designing the life she wanted ever since.  Once she settled in Reno, she began to get ecstatic about the blossoming art and craft scene, as well as the local food revolution and the permaculture movements. She started selling her handmade plushes and mobiles to local boutiques and to her utter surprise landed a rep for her products. As it turned out, crafting full-time in a quiet peaceful home was not her idea of bliss. She wanted to work among the masses, to live and breathe and struggle with people as they fin their way. Coaching kept calling her name, but she would refuse to heed to its call.

In 2010 she co-founded Checklet, a company that builds web apps for the crafters. Checklet’s first app, Favoritizer, won an Honorary Hack Award in Etsy’s Handmade Code Contest.  Their second app, Metricorn, is a financial dashboard for small businesses that makes doing taxes and monitoring your profits–easy peasy.  It fulfilled her dream to help others with what she herself struggled with, the left-brained side of running a creative business. As she went deeper into the startup world, she found that she missed working one-on-one with people.  While she enjoys marketing her web apps, she knew deep down in her gut that she had to eat her own dog food and follow her passion to be a business coach for creatives. That brings us up to date!

She ocassionally blogs about all things design related at Paisley Ann Design. In her spare time she likes to sew, hand-feed her chickens through the kitchen window, start businesses, coach’s soccer, gardens, play soccer, practices other acts of tomfoolery and helps her friends to give birth to new dreams.  She has contributed to Design Sponge*biz ladies, started Reno’s only Etsy team, and shows her art in local galleries. She lives in Reno with her husband and two rad step kids in a 1930 brick tudor that is ever-evolving into a delightful home for them and their animals: 9 chickens and a dog. Her family love Old Historic Reno so much that they host out of town guests on Airbnb.com.  A room in their house can be booked here.
